The Little Buddy lighter has a flip-top cap, for convenient, one-handed operation, and a flame-locking lever, for ease of use. The lighter has a fuel adjustment dial at its base, to control flame length, as well as a clear view of the fuel chamber, for ease of gauging fuel.

The lighter houses a piezoelectric ignition system, which is based on a pressurized molecular reaction, and requires no electric connection.
